11/06/24 - A letter from Teal City Crew:
Love Will Win.

Life has become harder for a very large portion of our community as of today. To those struggling today, we wanted to reach out to you with a message of hope, joy, and love. There is a lot on the line, with a lot of work to do ahead.
This is a message, a reminder that:
LOve Will Win.

To our LGBTQIA+ family -
You will always be safe with us. Not only in the stands, but in everyday life, because not one single person can take your identity and self away from you. Love Will Win.

To our immigrant family -
You belong anywhere you feel necessary to thrive. We are happy you're HERE, and creating your American dream in any form you can. We will find resources for those who need lawyers, shelter, etc. To quote Emma Lazarus' sonnet posted on the base of the Statue of Liberty: "Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, the wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door." We will always prevail, as our country is better with you in it.

To our family with reproductive rights -
Yes, California is a safe haven. We are lucky to be here. But for those who aren't as lucky, you are always welcome here. We have members who can take you in for any reason, short or long-term. You will not be ignored. Whether it's from unfortunate circumstance, or gender affirming care, we are here.
Love Will Win.

To our mother's, daughters, sisters, and aunts -
A mother's love, a daughter's joy, a sisters support, and the open arms of an aunt. Whatever we have in our lives, you are the backbone of life itself. We will believe you when you're hurt.
We will protect your rights. We will be here for you.
Love Will Win.

To our Trans family -
We spoke earlier, but wanted to reiterate a few things. You belong. You deserve joy. You deserve affirmation. You deserve to be your true authentic self. Nothing and no one can take that from you. If you're in trouble, please reach out to us. We will get you the best resources possible.

To our...other.... supporters -
You got what you wanted. But we hope this is a time of reflection, reality, and change. Look at the people we reached out to above, and how they feel with this decision today. You may see your beliefs being affirmed, and great, more power to you. But those beliefs are dangerous, violent to others, and will affect so many people you've never met. If you can do ONE thing in our behalf: LISTEN. Listen to an immigrant. Listen to a person of color. Listen to a queer person. Listen to women.

You may ask: What does this have to do with hockey?
Nothing, absolutely nothing. But we the fans come from a vast amount of backgrounds. We face struggles you couldn't imagine once we leave our seats and head back to where we started. We are all human.
And For many of us, living our authentic lives is a dangerous feat. Our mere existence is a threat to your reality, but we will NOT give up on our authenticity.
And make thing very clear:
Love WILL win.
